Xglide Privacy Notice

Notice version: 2026-10-10

Effective date: October 10, 2026

Data controller: Fernando Balladares Jr., an individual located in Houston, Texas, USA ("Xglide," "we," "us," or "our")

Document status: Complete pre-release draft prepared for review by qualified legal counsel before public sale.

This notice explains how the current Xglide desktop application and related sales and support activities handle information. It does not apply to a payment processor, marketplace, operating-system vendor, or other third party operating under its own privacy notice.

1. Information processed by the desktop application

To provide its features, the Xglide application may process:

Xglide is designed not to write individual keystrokes, clipboard text, dictated audio or text, pairing codes, or private identity keys into its logs.

Dictation records only while the Dictate key is held, for at most 60 seconds. Speech is recognised offline on the computer that owns the chosen microphone. Audio stays in memory on that computer and is discarded after recognition; it is never saved or transmitted. Only the recognised text is sent, encrypted, to the paired computer when the words are to be typed there.

2. Local-network transmission

Xglide is a peer-to-peer local-network application. After you approve pairing, shared input and clipboard data are encrypted in transit and sent directly between the paired computers. The current application does not send this data to a cloud service operated by us and does not contain advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or telemetry services.

The speech model used for dictation is downloaded once, only after you approve it, directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), which receives the ordinary request information any download involves, such as your IP address. No audio, text or personal information is sent with that request.

For nearby-computer discovery, Xglide broadcasts limited information on the local network: the chosen computer name, a public device identifier, a port number, and a protocol version. Discovery information does not include keyboard events, clipboard contents, private keys, or the pairing code. A person or device on the same network may be able to observe the discovery information.

3. Information stored on each computer

Xglide stores configuration (including the chosen dictation microphone), generated identity, paired-computer trust records, EULA acceptance, downloaded speech models, and operational logs locally on each computer. The operating system may separately retain permissions, firewall rules, recent-application information, and crash information associated with Xglide.

Local information remains until you change settings, forget a computer, uninstall Xglide and remove its application-data directory, or the operating system removes it. We do not receive that information unless you choose to send it for support or diagnostics.

4. Purchase and support information

When Xglide is offered for sale, the purchase provider may collect information such as your name, email address, billing address, payment details, tax location, order identifier, and refund status under its own privacy notice. We expect to receive only the order and customer information reasonably needed to deliver the Software, confirm license eligibility, prevent fraud, provide support, process refunds, maintain financial records, and comply with law. The Xglide desktop application does not currently contain an account system or transmit payment-card data.

If you contact support, we process the information you choose to provide, including your contact details, message, order information, and any diagnostic files you attach. Review diagnostic files before sending them. Do not send passwords, private identity keys, clipboard contents, or unrelated personal information.

4a. Website and beta signup

When you join the Xglide beta on xglide.app, we collect the name and email address you enter, the Mac and PC models you describe, any referral code in the link you used, and the country your request came from, which our hosting provider supplies. This information is stored in a database operated by Cloudflare, our website and download host. We use it only to send you beta download links, updates, and beta-related messages from [email protected], and to understand which computers our testers use. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. You can ask us to delete it at any time by writing to [email protected].

The website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you arrive through a friend's link, your browser may remember the referral code locally so it is applied when you join. Downloads and update checks are served by Cloudflare, which receives the ordinary request information any download involves, such as your IP address.

5. Purposes and legal bases

We use information as reasonably necessary to:

Where a law requires a specified legal basis, these activities rely as applicable on performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Xglide, or your consent. You may withdraw consent for optional clipboard sharing at any time by disabling that feature.

6. Disclosure of information

We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be disclosed only:

Before public sale, this notice must be updated with the actual providers used for payment, delivery, hosting, email, and support.

7. Retention

The desktop application retains local information as described in Section 3. For information we receive through sales or support, we intend to retain:

Information may be retained longer when required by law, a legal hold, or an active dispute. We may retain de-identified information that cannot reasonably be linked to you.

8. Your choices and rights

You can:

We may need to verify your identity and may retain information that law permits or requires us to keep. You may appeal a denied privacy request by replying to the decision and stating that you are appealing. You may also contact the privacy or consumer-protection authority applicable to you.

9. Security

Xglide uses encrypted, mutually authenticated connections and requires users to compare a pairing code on first connection. No security measure eliminates all risk. Pair only computers you own, control, or trust; use a trusted private network; keep both operating systems updated; protect local accounts; and disable clipboard sharing before copying sensitive text that should not reach the other computer.

10. Children

Xglide is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through sales or support. A person must be at least 18, or the age of legal majority where they live, to purchase the Software without a parent or legal guardian.

11. International use

Xglide is operated from Texas, USA. If you obtain it from another country, information you provide for sales or support may be processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ. Local peer-to-peer data travels only between the computers you pair, which may be in locations you choose.

12. Changes and contact

We will revise this notice before adding cloud relay, analytics, telemetry, accounts, additional clipboard formats, or materially different data practices. The notice version and effective date will identify revisions. If a change materially affects existing users, we will provide notice through the Software, the official website, email, or another reasonable method before the change takes effect when required by law.

Xglide is operated by Fernando Balladares Jr., Houston, Texas, USA. Privacy questions and requests may be sent to [email protected]. A legal or privacy notice is effective when receipt is acknowledged.
